[i] Most
are exact, some are close approximations.
[ii] Teaching Entries 1916 through 1937 were
taken from a Personal Record found in a family Book of Remembrance.
[iii] Leland proposed in the kitchen of
Margaret’s second story apartment over a candy kitchen or shop. (The dishes were still on the table!) Margaret was living with Leland’s sister,
Velma, at the time. After the engagement,
Leland’s mother came to Logan immediately to check up on the potential
bride. Leland was working at the
Lewiston Sugar Factory at the time of courtship.
[iv] Taught 4/5 grades and music to all grades. Leland worked in Drugstore in St. Johns and
then Pharmacy in Chandler.
[v] Margaret lived at “Mother Heywood’s” home
on 1st Avenue in Mesa.

1186, Amy Lou Hastings by Leland Heywood and Margaret Smurthwaite Heywood. . .
. the said child shall bear the name of Carol Jayne Heywood. DONE IN OPEN COURT
